FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE |
Windsor, Ontario - We live in the Smog Capital of Canada. Here at the Citizens Environment Alliance (CEA) we are still frustrated by the lack of positive environmental action from local industry and politicians. Countless press releases, public presentations and pleas for remedial action seem to be ignored by area power brokers. That's why we are holding our 2nd Annual SMOGFEST.
The 2nd Annual SMOGFEST events will include a video night, an art exhibition, music, a parade, and a forum, and will seek to bring attention to our region's poor air quality and its effect on our health and environment.
The CEA would like your participation. We invite Windsor and area artists of all media to create art work that reflects Windsor, Southwestern Ontario and Southeast Michigan's dismal air quality and other environmental issues.
Artists may submit up to two art works in the upcoming SMOGFEST Art Exhibition, to be held May 17 - 30, 2003 at Milk Coffee Bar, 68 University Avenue West, Windsor.
The closing reception will be held on Friday, May 30, beginning at 7pm at Milk Cafe **This will be a smoke-free event! **
Silent auction bidding will begin May 18 and ends at 9pm on Friday, May 30. The artist will receive 70% of the selling price; the CEA will receive 30% (Tax-deductible receipts will be issued upon request). The artist may request art work not be included in the silent auction.
Please forward a short statement about your proposed work(s), and its approximate dimensions, by email, fax or mail by 5 pm, Friday, April 25. All artwork must be dropped off at the CEA office, located at 275 Oak Avenue (just off University Ave. W.), by Tuesday, May 13. Please include your name, phone/email, title of piece(s), media and starting bid, if applicable.
We look forward to your participation!
